$2.25 million Contribution from West Vancouver Council

Dear West Vancouver Schools Parents,

Many of you may have heard that at last night’s Council meeting Mayor Booth announced that the District of West Vancouver has committed to an additional donation of $2.25 million toward the Place for Sport. West Vancouver Board of Education Trustees, along with more than 30 staff members, were in council chambers for the announcement. This is wonderful news for our families and for the future of sport and community engagement in West Vancouver!

The West Vancouver Place for Sport will replace West Vancouver Secondary School’s existing grass field and deteriorated track with an artificial turf field and new track which will support our students, sporting clubs and athletic organizations. With last night’s announcement, the current fundraising total is now approximately 3.2 million dollars and the goal remains at 4.9 million dollars.

One of the more important pieces of the announcement is that $500,000 of that will be used as part of a matching donor contribution opportunity. What this means is that the District will match dollar-for-dollar every donation up to $500,000. We know that almost all of our PAC groups have donated between $2500-$5000, and individuals, including some of you, have made personal donations. These donations are held in trust with the West Vancouver Foundation and are eligible for tax receipts. If you are interested in donating, or others in your network may be interested, please see the information on donations available HERE.

Please help us get across the finish line with this important community project.

We look forward to our students using the new facility in the Fall of 2021!
