On October 28, the District of West Vancouver approved an additional contribution of $2 million to the West Vancouver Place for Sport. $500,000 of this generous donation is to be used for a matching grant program as donations are received from the public, concluding December 31, 2019.

West Vancouver sports facility finally hits its fundraising goal – North Shore News

It was more of an ultra-marathon than a sprint, but the race to raise funds for a new running track and sports facility in West Vancouver has finally reached the finish line.

The District of West Vancouver today announced they’d reached their fundraising goal – thanks in large part to a sizable donation from a local family – and will begin construction this year on the facility known as the West Vancouver Place For Sport.  FULL ARTICLE

Armitage Family Generous Donation

After six years of fundraising, construction of the West Vancouver Place for Sport will finally proceed in 2022. West Vancouver’s Armitage family has made the largest and most substantial donation to the project to date, bringing the total amount raised to $4,812, 857. West Vancouver Council then agreed to provide the funding required to complete the project, on top of the $2,250,000 already committed in October 2019.  FULL MEDIA RELEASE

$50,000 pledge made by the Beedie Foundation for Harry Jerome Oval

Members of West Van Secondary School’s two provincial championship cross country teams, along with coach Colin Dignum, gathered together with Ryan Beedie and Valerie Jerome to celebrate a $50,000 pledge by the Beedie Foundation that will assist with the construction of Harry Jerome Oval at the new West Vancouver Place for Sport

We are very proud to name this new track the Harry Jerome Oval.   

The West Vancouver Place for Sport is pleased to announce that the running track, a key feature of this planned new facility, will be named in honour of HarryJerome, British Columbia’s male athlete of the 20th Century and recipient of the Order of Canada.
